Does your project look like a music magazine? Why? What conventions have you used?
I would very much say that my end product resembles music magazines and to be more precise a metal/rock magazine. The reason for this is because majority of the contents in my magazine, heavily reflect the metal theme.
as you can see on the right from the fonts being big bold and in capital, to the cluttered front cover template. I made sure that every single bit in my magazine made it look like a official magazine. For example adding only one main image onto the front cover, and made sure that the model was giving direct eye contact when taking the images. adding various colors to my front cover, that were mainly red, yellow and black, these are colors that are vibrant and eye grabbing. so i used this combination of bright colors and cluttered scenery to make my magazine resemble a rock magazines. in the end i am very pleased with my work and i think i have achieved on making my magazine look like an official one.
I added page number onto the contents and DPS, and made sure that all the page numbers related to each other. Creating a mast head that very similarly represents rock/ metal. (Even adding a little shadow to the masthead). By making my contents page have the date and issue number, having an old issue on the contents page. Making sure the magazines has more than 70+ pages. Doing all of this on my final product can make me believe that my magazine does look like an actual music magazine.

What analysis of existing products did you do?
When researching about metal magazines there were a variety of choices to choose from, so what I did was I looked at each magazine and looked at their house style and put some ideas down from each different magazine and started to create my own magazines based on the mixture and inspiration of these magazines. I also study the color scheme to the fonts being used, so when I started to make my magazine I already had an idea of what to start with. I noticed that majority of metal magazines have a cluttered layout, this information was very important so I decided to use this cluttered theme on my own.
Does your magazine clearly fit into the music genre?
I think that my magazine is very clear of what genre it is, when it comes to the front cover that has the model wearing an iron maiden shirt, smashing his navy electric guitar into the screen, the viewer will straight away know what kind of genre it is. For the mast head I used bold and sharp font to resemble bitterness, I also used dark color theme; e.g. black, white, yellow and red. Overall I think that my genre is quite obvious.
How have I used models as music artist?
I have made sure that all my models related to the rock theme, by doing this I made them wear dark colors. One on my models on the contents page had bright red hair which is something very common in rock/ metal. Whilst my front covers the model had messy blonde hair which is also common. I made sure that my model was male, so that he could engage the target audience who are male.
How have you used photography, editing and mise en scene?
When taking my pictures I used angles and lighting, the reason why was because I wanted to make my model look big and power so I choose a low angle with strong lighting on the sides ( I also made the model do a metal scream). For my contents page I made my model look angry to relate to the metal theme, I also brightened up his red hair on Photoshop and brightened up his skin. For majority of my models made their hair more vibrant and brightened them up. The type of props I used for my models where a guitar, jean jackets and black clothing.
How have you used layout design?
For my contents layout I used a different style by adding a big image on the top and the bottom with the contents. Then I choose the color scheme of red, white and black. I used quite a few images just to give it the cluttered look.
For my DPS I used red and black as my main theme colors, I also divided the page and put text on one side whilst image on the other.
For my front cover I used one main image with other smaller images around it, I made sure that my front cover was cluttered in text, images and sell lines.

Colour Themes
As you can see the main colour themes that run through my front cover are grey, white, yellow and red. These colours are the colours i choose based on the results of my magazine audience. i made sure that the front cover was colourful so that it can get attention from the audience.
in the contents page the main colours are many shades of red, mixed with white and black. the colors where picked because they are dark and gothic looking. The red stands out from the white background which can catch the attention of the reader.
i decided to tone down the colours on my dps and kept it simple with just red and black, these too are gothic colours ( engage the audience). also the story links to the color theme, its about an ex - band member from a band , i gave it a bloody look to make it seem like she did something very bad.
